Due to the amazing support of St John’s Church Merrow, Guildford now has its very own Baby Basics charity. Working with midwives and health professionals, we’ll be supplying everything a new-born baby and family needs to help them through the first few months.

Although, Guildford is often seen as an affluent area, prosperity is not universal. Four neighbourhoods are amongst the most deprived in the UK and in three areas, a third of children live in poverty.

We started collecting donations in church on Easter Sunday. Due to the incredible generosity of our parishioners we’ve already received lots of essential equipment, baby clothing and toiletries; as well as financial donations.

There are three ways you can help:

1. We need volunteers to help sort through the donations (in a Covid-secure environment), wash clothes, knit items and help make up Moses baskets.
2. Continue to donate items, we particularly need nappies, mum and baby toiletries and baby towels.
