‘God made the small tree great’
Reflection four – ‘God made the small tree great’
This is the fourth in a series of reflections focusing on the natural world, to see what we can learn about our relationship with God. Today, I’m in the rectory garden looking at my vegetable patch and behind me are some enormous Sequoia trees. When I first arrived here, I planted a selection of vegetables, but nothing really flourished. I soon realised that this was because the Sequoia trees were sapping the soil of water and nutrients. Their extraordinary size meant there was little goodness left in the soil for my vegetables. So I needed to give these vegetables a lot of extra nurturing to help them thrive.
