The Eucharist

Rev. Rona will be leading a new series of Reflections, based on the Pilgrim Courses.

There are 8 Pilgrim Courses, and we will be using the one which focuses on the Eucharist and what this means for each of us individually and as a community. There will be suggested prayers and readings as well as input from contributors including Stephen Cotterell (Archbishop of York) and Bishop John Pritchard (former Bishop of Oxford who remains an author of very accessible books)

The Eucharist has been chosen for the first Reflections as most of us have not been able to receive the sustenance of Holy Communion for many months. So it is an opportune time to pause and reflect on the significance of the sacrament. In those few seconds when we take the Host on our tongue, we experience a purity that for a moment gives a foretaste of heaven.

When we return to celebrate the Eucharist together in St John’s Church, the words: ‘This is my body, given for you, do this in remembrance of me’ will take on an even deeper significance after following these Reflections.

You are warmly invited to join Rev. Rona on this six week spiritual journey exploring together aspects of what it means to be a Christian in the world today.

Reflections begin on Wednesday August 5th.
