Rona’s Reflections - The Bible

Right now many of us are experiencing difficult, troublesome and even fearful times. We don’t know what the future holds and even the present seems uncertain. It may feel that God is being silent and is not interested in our plight. But silence does not mean that anything is wrong, instead God is inviting us into a relationship so deep, it surpasses the limitations of speech. Sometimes, it is through silence and stillness that God speaks to us. There is nothing outside of God’s interest.

To help you feel God’s closeness, try reading the Bible every day. You will be amazed at the comfort and wisdom it contains.

Remember “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15)

Recommended book: When God is Silent - Divine Language Beyond Words by Barbara Brown Taylor

The book is written for those who yearn for God but for whom God appears to be silent. It considers the limitations of the words available to speak about God and reflects on the eloquence of silence.
