The Cost of Living Crisis

A group of us were discussing how the increased cost of everything – food, fuel, mortgages, etc - is affecting our regular outgoings and how we are trying to cope with the situation. For some, there appeared less of an impact; fixed price contracts with our energy companies, mortgages refixed before the latest crisis occurred, or generally in a position to tighten our belts without too much distress.

We discussed how, regardless of our circumstances, we have all now received the second instalment of the Government’s £400 rebate on our winter energy bills and, if we were old enough, the winter fuel payment; it then got us thinking.  If we could afford it, could we not give all or some of our rebate to a charity trying its best to help people for whom the current situation is hitting hard?

One of our Charities of the Year, Christians Against Poverty, has set up a hardship fund to help and we thought this might offer a place for some to be able to make a donation of some, or all, of the rebate we are receiving.

If you feel you are able to donate something please go to the Donate section on the church website and reference your donation “COL CRISIS”. We will then pass the money onto our local Christians Against Poverty branch.

Thank you.
