The Club has been meeting on a Wednesday morning for over forty years since church members Eric and Doris Gilson saw the need for a friendly and welcoming venue for the more elderly residents of the parish following the expansion of Merrow in the late 1960s.
We meet every Wednesday morning from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. in the foyer of St John’s Church Centre for coffee, biscuits and a chance to chat with old friends and to make new ones. (We close for two weeks over Easter, three weeks at Christmas and do not meet in August.) Our aim is to offer the chance of joining us to as many ladies and gentlemen as possible, so come along and join us. We can guarantee you a warm welcome.
We have a very loyal and able team of coffee makers and drivers who work on a rota. Transport can be arranged for those members unable to get to us by themselves.
Other activities include:
- an annual coach trip to Worthing with tea on the pier and some sea air
- a fish and chip lunch in February at the Church Centre
- “Carols and Sherry” at Christmas
We welcome any opportunity to extend our club activities
If you would like any more information about joining or helping with the coffee rota, please contact Paulene Lambert on 01483 538217.
