Remembrance Day 2019

‘Lest we forget….’

The Remembrance day service held on Sunday 10th November was made especially poignant this year, by the addition of three names to the War Memorial. George Triggs, George Willard and Cyril Palmer have now been added to the roll of honour and the War memorial has been updated.

The service began in church, where the roll of honour was read out by Rev Rona. Two minutes silence was held at 11am and when the last post was poignantly played, more than a few tears were shed in remembrance of those who have died in wars.

Finally, the congregation went outside and the service was concluded around the war memorial.

They will never be forgotten…….

   Remembrance Day Refreshments 2019

Refreshments after a service to remember

Following the very emotional Remembrance Day Service, Merrow Scouts and Cubs invited the congregation and local Merrow residents to a special ‘Remembrance Refreshments’ event at the St John’s Centre.

Featuring delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches served by the Scouts and Cubs, it was a morning to remember in every sense. The young, the old and those in between all came together in remembrance.
