Younger People

St John's Junior Church (SJJC) is led by our curate Jacqueline. The children meet in the church at the beginning of the 10 a.m service and then go out to the Church Centre. They spend about twenty-five minutes enjoying creative activities based on the gospel story for the day and learning about the wider life of the church. They come back into church to join the rest of the congregation as we celebrate the Eucharist.

If your child would like to come along and join our group, we would be delighted to see them at any of our 10 a.m services - the first Sunday of the month is a family Eucharist and the children stay in the church with everyone else.

Admission to Holy Communion: children from age 7 upwards are welcome to receive Holy Communion following a course of instruction and their First Communion. (Further details from the Rector or Jacqueline.)

Serving Team: our young people are also encouraged to take an active part in the liturgy by becoming a server.  (Further details from Helen Chambers.)

A prayer for our Junior Church:

Dear Lord of love and life,

We give thanks for our young people.

Give them a sense of belonging and reassurance that they are held safely in your hands.

Bless them with health, inspiration and joy;

Help them to discover your purpose for their lives, flourish in their faith and

become disciples of your good news…

Through Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen

We are also delighted by our connection with Merrow C E Infant School:

The school's Headteacher, Jane Treharne writes:

"Here at Merrow Infant School we aim to provide the highest quality of infant education through an excellent teaching and learning environment.  Children really do matter most!  We have beautiful grounds with outstanding facilities which cater for the needs of four to seven year olds."
