Recruiting our new rector

THE SEARCH FOR OUR NEW RECTOR

Here is our monthly update for you.

On Monday and Tuesday, 4th and 5th September, four applicants for our post will offer themselves for the interviewing process, bless them.  We had a good response to the second Church Times advertisement and it was quite difficult slimming the number down to a shortlist of four.

On Monday, they “interview” us; lunch with the Churchwardens, discussions with the clergy and the Parish Administrator, a session with the Rev’d Barnaby Perkins at the Clandons and, of course a look round the church and the Rectory.  In the evening, they subject themselves to what is quaintly known as Trial by Quiche at supper with the PCC.

The interviews themselves are on the Tuesday morning, the panel consisting of Bishop Andrew, our Patron the Earl of Onslow, Stuart Beake our recently retired Arch Deacon, our Area Dean Nick Williams and our two churchwardens.

Please pray for the applicants and the interviewers and watch for the white smoke the following day.

Lord of Life, as we work to build a vision of St. Johns,
enable this Church to hear your calling,
to discern your direction and to prepare the way.
Limit us not to our own hopes, ideas and agendas,
but enlighten us to your eternal vision for our church,community and new incumbent;
so that together we can be messengers of your Gospel,
walking faithfully in the ways of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Robert and Helen, churchwardens
